Harvesting: Dreams, Memories & Chaos

Every year a few days after Holi, tribals from Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh gather to celebrate a successful harvesting, to find matches, to dress up and dance and have a merry time in general.

The high point of the fair is an extra-ordinary procession in which all gathered dress up by painting their bodies with rice paste and ash and sporting towering plumes of peacock feathers. They also tie strings of colourful beads and brass bells and dance to the beat of frantic drumming.
